Beth Ferrell
Beth Ferrell is a missionary with the General Board of Global Ministries of The United Methodist Church currently serving as Mission-Interpreter-in-Residence (MIIR) in the North Central Jurisdiction (Midwest).

From 2001-2005 Beth was assigned to Sierra Leone to assist in re-establishing Manjama United Methodist Health Center, which is four miles north of Bo. After a slow start due to lack of operating funds and staff, the Health Center became functional in August 2002 and became progressively busier, serving the primary healthcare needs of surrounding rural villages as well as the residents of Bo.

The Health Center treats entire families as well as conducting a weekly nutrition program for children under five and an immunization program. Beth also worked with the Community Based Health (CBH) Project on a countrywide level. CBH has several components: field trips to various parts of the country when invited by the UMC District Superintendents, CBH Workshop participation, participation in a 10 village CBH group organized by participants from a 2003 WCC/Sierra Leone UMC Development Office sponsored workshop, coordination of a Training the Trainers CBH course, and the Agriculture Program in Manjama UMC Health Center which includes piggery, agriculture, tree farming, and promotion of green leaves as nutritional supplement.

Beth shares a thought on her experiences, "I never want to forget those I lived and worked with in Sierra Leone and Mozambique –the dire circumstances of their day-to-day struggle to survive. Nor do I want to lose the capacity to use what God has blessed me with to help them. May God grant me the ability to convey what I have experienced and learned with those who have not been privileged to go to other lands. May we see with the ‘eyes of our hearts’ (Ephesians 1:18) and may we, with God’s help and directions, share a part of God’s gifts to each of us with those who desperately need our help. To God be the glory for ever and ever. Amen."

From 1989 to 1999, Beth was a nursing supervisor and educator at the Chicuque Rural Hospital and Director of the Community Development and Health Project in Mozambique.

Before her time in Mozambique, Beth was and remains a member of Newport UMC in Uhrichsville, OH. She has been a member of the Staff Parish Relations Committee, chair of the Administrative Council, church pianist, choir director, and taught an adult Sunday School class for 19 years.

Prior to her mission service, Beth worked 29 years at Twin City Hospital in Dennison, OH in numerous roles, including emergency nurse/supervisor, staff nurse in obstetrics, administrative director of clinical services, and administrative director of nursing services. She also served as interim administrator for the hospital.

A native of Belmont Ridge, OH, Beth graduated with honors from Freeport Ohio High School and the Aultman Hospital School of Nursing. Her B.S. and M.A. degrees in nursing were received from Kent State University. In 2000, she completed a post-master's certificate in community-based interventions at the University of Arizona in Tucson, AZ.

Beth, a widow, is the mother of two adult children, Susan and Gregory, who reside in Tucson, AZ and West Hartford, CT respectively. She has 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Beth's brother Clarence Green and his wife Sandra live in Mount Pleasant, OH.

Beth Jo Ann Ferrell is available for Covenant Relationship support in Desert Southwest Annual Conference , East Ohio Annual Conference , Southwest Texas Annual Conference , West Ohio Annual Conference.
